How Google finds you: local SEO for businesses on the coast

Most customers search on Google first. When they look for a service in their town, a map appears with three businesses above it and only then the regular results. Below are the steps any local business can take, without paid ads.

1. A fast, mobile-friendly site

Google favours pages that open quickly on a phone. A slow site with many images and plugins loses already on the first visit.

2. A title and description with the place name

The page title should say what you do and where: “Web design Izola”. People search with a place name, so it should be in the title, main heading and first paragraph.

3. A separate page for each place

If you work in several places, build separate pages with their own content (not the same words with a changed name). That way each can rank for its own place.

4. Google Business Profile

This is a free listing that shows you on the map and in search. Enter the exact address, opening hours, category and contact, and add photos. The details should match your website.

5. Reviews

Reviews from satisfied customers are an important factor for local results. Ask briefly, right after the work, and reply to each one.

6. Directory listings

Links from other reliable sites (directories, associations, articles) show Google you are a real business. List yourself in local directories with the same name, address and phone number.

7. Realistic expectations

Nobody can guarantee first place for a general term such as “website”. For local and longer terms (e.g. “web design Izola”) a ranking is realistic, usually within weeks to months.
